Why visit Deauville?
Deauville is perfect for a day trip, whether departing from Rouen or Paris. Here is what to see, when to go, and how to organise your trip without wasting three hours on connections.
Deauville remains the most elegant resort on the Normandy coast, two hours from Paris and a few minutes from Trouville. Seaside weekends, horse racing, festivals, and seminars: Deauville is vibrant all year round.
Located in Calvados, about 200 km from Paris and 105 km from Rouen, Deauville is ideal for both a day trip and a weekend. Once there, the town is easy to get around: it is the journey there and back in the evening that requires planning.
Deauville’s top attractions
- 1. The Planches boardwalk and beach huts
- 2. The casino and grand hotels
- 3. The La Touques racecourse
Best time to visit: The American Film Festival, early September.

Train, coach or private car with driver to Deauville?
Deauville is served by the Deauville-Trouville station, on the Paris Saint-Lazare – Lisieux – Deauville-Trouville line, often requiring a change at Lisieux. Normally, allow 2 to 2.5 hours from Paris Saint-Lazare. It is a good solution when everything is running smoothly. Outside of summer weekends, most trains require a change at Lisieux, and direct trains are very crowded on Friday evenings.
| Solution | Door-to-door travel time | Weaknesses |
|---|---|---|
| Train Paris Saint-Lazare → Deauville-Trouville station | 2 h to 2 h 30 + access time | Fixed schedules, luggage to carry, early last departure |
| Regional coach | Often 3 h or more | Few departures, no evening service |
| Private car with driver | 2 h 05 without changes | Traffic at peak hours |
Our shuttle takes over when the rail network fails: strikes, track work, cancelled trains, missed connections, night flights, or simply when you are travelling with children, professional equipment, or too many suitcases for a train platform. We pick you up at your address, at the time we have agreed, and drop you off in Deauville without any changes.

Good to know before you leave
- Bring comfortable shoes: the promenade and the beach are best explored on foot.
- Book your visits and restaurant tables in advance during high season.
- Parking is often saturated on weekends: being dropped off saves you from circling for half an hour.
- The Norman climate changes quickly: a windbreaker is warmer than an umbrella against the sea breeze.
- The last trains leave early: check the return time before booking a dinner.

Taxi, VTC or private shuttle in Deauville?
Many travellers search for a “Deauville taxi” when what they really need is a price known in advance. The difference is simple: a taxi starts the meter and the amount depends on traffic; a VTC like Navette Privée provides the price at the time of booking and does not change it, even in the event of traffic jams or a delayed flight.
- Deauville Taxi: convenient for a short trip in town, variable price, advance booking rarely guaranteed.
- Deauville VTC: booking at the chosen time, known driver, confirmed vehicle, fixed price.
- Deauville Airport Shuttle: 275 € to Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle, 270 € to Orly, 250 € to Paris centre in a saloon, tolls and luggage included.
For an early morning departure, a return at night, or a Deauville – Paris trip with suitcases, the private shuttle is often cheaper than a metered taxi, and always less stressful than a train with a connection. Call +33 6 88 14 67 82 or request your quote online: we respond in a few minutes.
